A LITTLE ABOUT CORK

Cork is the bark of Cork Oak trees that grow almost exclusively in one region of the world (Mediterranean).

The collection of the cork, or the harvest, may be repeated every 9 years, and up to 12 or 15 harvests may be reaped from a single tree making the production of Cork products absolutely renewable and sustainable.

Cork is available in many different grades, with overall wood quality being the difference. The quality relates directly to density, porosity, major and minor defects and cosmetic appearance. At TerraCasca Jewellery we import the absolute best quality on the market.

Cork can be processed to take many different forms. In the production of Jewellery we often produce Cork fabric which has a look and feel and durability similar to leather, but no animals are harmed in the process 🙂 making it suitable for Vegans & Vegetarians to wear.
